Everything was coming to a close. Verona's armies had been set up in the various corners of the known world and even had a small force defending her New York home where she was staying to avoid assassination. Naturally she was a bit antsy, but she didn't think many Hunters would find her here. They normally hung out in England and besides, they'd have to be exceptionally good to match an Ancient.
Her boots clicked on the roadside as she made her way down to her favorite restaurant. Wars were not the right time for fine dining, she knew, but why couldn't she have a little fun? She'd been working her ass off with all her troops, training the changelings and giving her advisers directions because they were too damn stupid to think for themselves. Typical.
Naturally it was nighttime, and a little drizzle was falling from the dark clouds obscuring the waxing moon. It was a time to be wary, and Verona noticed that nobody was walking around that night. Reports of blood-drained and ripped apart bodies must have gotten the attention of the citezens of New York. There weren't even any gangs around. What a shame...if there were, the Empress may have been able to skip on dinner that evening.

The noisy night air of New York seemed to be playing quiet a challenge for the citizens as they hurried towards their apartments or elsewhere. The Hunters were also in New York for the next victim of the vampires to battle it out. Somehow they had received word the millions of deaths and her highness was in the once beautiful, but noisy city. A shadowy figure emerged from behide a newspaper trying to see if there was any news , sadly there wasn't. Tossing the paper away into a nearby trash bin she fixed the collar of her shirt and pulled her hood down off her head to reveal the Head Hunter of the clan, who had been voted to that position 7 months ago. She strolled down the near deserted street and quicken her pace towards the Brooklyn Bridge where the leader of the group that she sent into Brooklyn was there. Her white gun showed showing she was here to destroy and to protect the human race. Guinevere's warm brown eyes darted up to the sky feeling the little rain as to progress towards the ground. Vampire's won't get so lucky tonight as the rain bands began to moved towards the city. Guinevere ran towards the restaurant to check on something or a member of her team to see if there was any specious people there. She stepped inside just before the rain let go onto the street behide her and took her seat nearby.

Immediately Verona could tell something wasn't right. She blocked everything out, concentrating on any auras she could pick up. There were the usual ones, the people inside their houses. She even picked up a few nonhuman beings, but they were Elementals and were not producing the feeling of foreboding. Her earlier antsiness escalated into panic for about three seconds before she mentally slapped herself.
There she was. de Lancrét was sitting somewhere near the Brooklyn Bridge. Verona silently thanked her powers but still concentrated on the Headhunter's position, scrambling down into an alley and, using a trash can, jumped onto the roof of a nightclub, running over to try and see where she was. de Lancrét was good. Verona could see her on a bench near her previous destination. Ha, as if she'd fly into the obvious trap. The Empress wasn't stupid.
As silently as she could she jumped off the building, landing with barely any sound below. She took off at a run the second she touched the ground, speeding past shops and restaurants. If anybody had seen her she would just look like a black blur. Verona couldn't keep it up forever and sat on a bench, panting and sweating. Worst comes to worst she would teleport back to the castle, but as teleporting made a loud noise she'd give away her position.

Guinevere was in the middle of ordering light to eat when she got the most worst feeling she ever sensed like she was being hunted. She made a deep eye contact to one of her clan notifying about the sense the all humans got when they were being hunted or watched. She knew that her Highness was on her way, but she would tried out so easily that she would have to rest. Guinevere laughed at that as she pulled her gun into her lap and held the trigger just in case with her member following the same gesture. Far as she knew her family had been hunted by vampires and lrycans, but the vampires were worst of all. Her mother was lucky, but she was different as she sat there and let her eyes wonder around the room looking for the vampire.
